Life is busy and sneaking in some casual reading is far down the priority list for most. Careers start developing in our 20′s and leisurely reading time give way to research for job prospects and all that grown up living ha in store for us. Then there is the relationships we have with our spouses and once the kids come along, it be really hard to find the time to read just for pleasure. The short answer to this is of course, just make the time. One shouldn’t have to give up the job of casual reading just because life gets in the way. Here are a couple of tips for sneaking in some extra reading time.
1.) Stay up a little later- The body is amazingly resilient when it comes to sleep. A recommended night of sleep is 7-9 hours to be attentive and productive throughout the next day. Let’s go ahead and say that you can get by quite easily on 7 hours of sleep so why not stay up a little later at night or get up earlier in the morning and keep a good book by your side at all times. A reading light is great and be sure to get some captivating material for the night hours. Read anything too boring and you’re bound to just find yourself drifting off.
2.) Turn off the TV- Let’s face it, there’s only a few good shows on at any season of the year. You don’t have to watch TV every night and fill those hours with very mediocre programming. Instead, choose those nights where the TV viewing isn’t so good and just turn the darn thing off.
