Library Databases Available
The following list of databases are available for use within the library and via remote access for cardholders. The icons preceding each database represent the following methods of access:

Business and Company ASAP (In-Library use only.) Provides researchers with information on companies, markets and industries. From markets trends, mergers and acquisitions to current management theory and company overviews. Access business and trade journals, newspapers and company directory profiles with full-text and images.
Chicago Tribune (Accessible from home by River Forest Public Library cardholders. Use your library card number to access.) Full-text of the Chicago Tribune newspaper articles from 1985 to the present.
Contemporary Authors (In-Library use only.) Provides complete biographical and bibliographical information and references on more than 120,000 U.S. and international authors.
Contemporary Literary Criticism – Select (In-Library use only.) Contemporary Literary Criticism – Select is an extensive collection of critical essays on contemprary authors. Each entry contains a biographical/critical introduction, listing of principal works and sources for further study.
eLibrary (Accessible from home by River Forest Public Library cardholders. Use your library card number to access.) eLibrary is the perfect resource for reference essentials. The new, updated interface and features make research easy, no matter the user’s age or skill level. Researches find the answers they need from more than 1,500 full-text magazines, newspapers, books, and transcripts, plus thousands of maps, pictures, weblinks, and audio/video files.
General Reference Center Gold (In-Library use only.) A general interest database that integrates a variety of sources in one easy-to-use interface. Use General Reference Center Gold to find articles from newspapers, reference books, and periodicals, many with full-text and images. Find the latest current events, popular culture, business and industry coverage, the arts and sciences, sports, hobbies, and more.
Grolier Online (Accessible from home by River Forest Public Library cardholders. Use your library card number to access.) Patrons will have access to the Encyclopedia Americana and the New Book of Knowledge.
Hoover’s Online Business Database (In-Library use only.) Hoover’s, Inc. provides access to comprehensive business intelligence resources for sales, marketing, and competitive research. The Library subscribes to the Hoover’s Pro Edition.
Kids InfoBits (In-Library use only.) Kids InfoBits meets the research needs of students in Kindergarten through Grade 5. It features a developmentally appropriate, visually graphic interface, a subject based topic tree search and full-text, age appropriate, curriculum-related magazine, newspaper and reference content for information on current events, the arts, science, health, people, government, history, sports and more.
World Book Encyclopedia (Accessible from home by River Forest Public Library cardholders. Use your library card number to access.) World Book offers in-depth information on a variety of subjects and educational activities for all age levels.
