Getting To Know Your Kids

As parents, we have our hardest job laid out for us before every getting foot outside the home. The hardest part of parenting is that it never stops, save maybe for those precious hours when they lay asleep in their bed. As parents, we really have no choice but to take the bulls by the horns on this one and parent out butts off. Here a re a couple of ways to improve the parent child relationship today.

1.) Eat Dinner Together- Sure, it sounds cliche  but eating dinner together as a family covers a few of the most important aspects of the relationship. I mean, we all have to eat, and eating together as a family allows you to monitor your child’s eating habits and suggest changes when they are in order. Furthermore, it’s one stop shopping for all family members to catch up on each other’s life progress.

2.) Scheduling Time For Activities- Most people are busy but couples often make a conscience effort to have a date night with each other. Why not apply this same logic to time with your kids? When left to their own devices, children will choose to suffer silently. If you schedule activities and force your way into your kids lives, the relationship between your family is bound to reap the benefits.

3.) Get To Know Their Friends- While they may never speak uo about it, it is easy enough to remember our friends parents that we liked growing up. They were friends who were interested in us, by virtue of the fact that they were interested in their own children. These are the kinds of parents who we strive to be when we chose to think of it as kids.

Some things happen in life that we have little to no control over. If we’re honest about it however, we find that there is plenty we do control. Your relationship with your kids is most often something you can control with some continuous effort.
